I vant to suck your blood …

Doesn’t this look like the sweetest little picture?

To me it looks like a loving big brother giving his baby brother a sweet kiss.  That is why I took the picture.   Ha!

Just moments after the click of the shutter, I realized what was happening and yelled, NO!  Then I had two babies crying.  Rusty was crying because I had just scolded him (he’s very sensitive to that) and Tommy was crying because Rusty was trying to take a chunk out of his cheek!   For the next 5 hours, there were three little teeth marks under Tommy’s eye and two little teeth marks down on his chubby cheek (Rusty has 4 top teeth, so I don’t know where that tooth mark went).  Rusty isn’t a big biter, unless you put your finger in his mouth, so I’m not sure why he thought Tommy would taste so good!  At least the picture looks like a sweet memory.

And to continue the fun that was my Saturday afternoon … I had just gotten the two babies settled down and was feeding Tommy, when Ricky came in from outside.  I couldn’t see him from my spot on the couch, but he was clearly standing on my carpeted stairs and telling me about the fun he and Billy were having.  They were making rivers and there was a dam that needed to be taken down and on and on and then he said something about not stepping on the plants and a light went off in my head.  Ricky and Billy were out in the garden where Kevin had left the water on while he went to a meeting.  This was not good.  Not because the boys would hurt the garden, but because of what I knew I’d see when I stood up.

There on my stairs was a muddy Ricky.  Coming in the door at that moment was a muddy Billy.  There were the muddy footprints from the door to the stairs and the muddy hand prints on the wall and banister and the muddy drips falling off the boys!  Oy. Oy, oy, oy.  To say I lost my cool would be putting it mildly.  We don’t care if they play in the mud when we are out there, but mud is not supposed to come into my house.  I was all dressed up to go out with Kevin as soon as he got home and I still needed to fix dinner for the boys, not clean up mud.  I was disturbed.  Ricky and Billy got cleaned up, leaving a tub full of dirt behind them, and knew better than to complain as they cleaned up every toy in the house for part of their punishment.   I’m told someday I’ll laugh about it.  It isn’t that day yet … but I think it is getting closer.

I’m not laughing over here. You’re a lot closer to laughing about it than I am. I’m very, very far away.
