Ricky has a wonderful imagination. Tonight at dinner, it wasn’t Ricky the boy eating with us, it was Ricky the kitty. When we asked him questions, he replied with “meows.” He ate very little and what he did eat, he licked. He had to wash his “paws” when dinner was through and then he left the kitchen on his hands and feet, meowing.
Ricky loves to sing, especially to Billy–and it calms Billy down every time!! I use it when Billy is fussing and I can’t get there right away, but Sunday we used it when Billy was fussing for Uncle Tim. We asked Ricky to sing Billy a song and over trots Ricky, right into Billy’s face and he starts singing “Rock-A-Bye Baby.” It is so cute and sweet. Sometimes Billy gets to hear an encore of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Sunday, with Uncle Tim, Billy stopped fussing while Ricky was singing and as soon as the song was finished, he would fuss again. We repeated this 3 times. Billy just loves Ricky.
Other Ricky quirks: all little girls are named Sarah. One of the ladies I serve with at church has a daughter named Sarah and we play with her a couple of times a month. Today, a different little girl was over with her mom and Ricky kept calling her Sarah, it was confusing the poor little girl (and making me giggle). Ricky loves plush carpet–especially if he can make “tracks” in it. He drives his trains and cars through the carpet, pressing hard, and if it leaves an indentation, he is completely tickled. The master bedroom has the best carpet in the house and it also has the most “tracks” every night when I go up to bed. And, he’s finally figured out how to pedal! He can move the pedal car at Grandmama’s house and he loves to drive his trike around the garage while his father is working out there. Steering is still a work in progress, but at least Ricky can propel himself around.
Billy is working the system. He knows how to coo and whine just the right way to get picked up and loved. He is incredibly gabby and VERY loud in the morning when he first wakes up. He likes smiling at people, but is starting to get wary of who is holding him. Oh, and he definitely thinks bananas are better tasting than green beans!
