November 2018

The cats don’t like our vacuums, but they have no problem with the Roomba bumping into them. * I used cardboard pumpkins for tossing practice for years at the preschool. It was finally time to recycle them, but Bobby had some walking around adorable fun first! * This LEGO fun happened within 5 minutes of the boys coming come from school. 5 minutes later, they were off playing at their friends’ houses. Why did it have to happen by the front door? * Tommy and I went to Kenna Hodson’s baptism on November 3, 2018. Jessie and I were twinners! Sure love all those Hodson girls!
All three cats hanging on Billy’s bed! * Batman helping me scan pictures via Bobby. * Ricky showing his true fashion sense and getting some work done at the orthodontist. * Last picture I took of Aunt Nancy. * Rusty showing off his mask at Lilly’s birthday party. * Bobby after Indian day at school.
Ricky was in the 9th grade play “Gathering Grimm” in November 2018. He played the Frog Prince (via puppet), the dog in the Bremerton Musicians, as well as a swan. He did a great job and is always fun to watch on stage.
The Farnsworths had a litter of 10 golden retriever puppies and let the boys and I come over for some puppy love! Nothing quite like a pile of puppies!
We got together with some of Kevin’s siblings and their families (Marc, Kristi, and David) at Marc’s home. The boys love spending time with their cousins! Driving home, Rusty pointed out all the city lights. Bobby responded, “Yes, I see them. So beautiful!”
The Buck girls spent a day with us. We took a field trip to Arctic Circle for lunch. * Kevin and I tried a new Japanese restaurant and the picture below is his “I’ll try the wasabi” face! * Ricky rocking some homemade footie pajamas. * The boys still write letters to Santa. We do it before Thanksgiving to give Santa.
We headed to California for the Thanksgiving break. We stayed at a hotel in St. George and the boys had fun swimming and sharing beds! The boys love visiting their grandparents and Rusty loves snuggling on Grandpa Brent’s lap. We play games and puzzles and enjoy our time together with them, Aunt Wendi, and Aunt Sheri. While driving around, we stopped and saw my Grandpa Giles’ old home in La Mirada.
We also got to spend some timew ith Uncle Marc and Grant who were in town for a Notre Dame game. * Kevin spent time doing some handyman projects around the house for his folks. * We left super early to drive home and the boys snuggled up and slept a while longer.
We went to the Wildlife Nature Center in Sylmar. We could pay for an experience to pet their sloths, Lola and Sid. Rusty is currently in love with sloths so we made it happen. It was incredibly cool! * Sid is the one sleeping in the corner. We could pet him as much as we liked. Lola was awake and moving! She’d swing dance out in the open area and then creep into the house where we were. Their fur felt like soft hair rather than fur. All of us loved it!
The Wildlife Center had more than sloths. We saw alligators, wildcats, birds, tortoises, wolves, and a giraffe that heard us talking and looked over a wall at us. That gave us a good startle! We even got to pet lizards and snakes during their learning minutes. Yet, second to the sloths, I think the boys enjoyed catching the Center’s pet cat and playing with it the most.
While in CA, we saw sloths for Rusty, so Ricky we found a shipwreck. It was the La Jennelle at Silver Stand Beach in Oxnard. It tipped in a storm in 1970 and they filled it with rocks to make a jetty. Part of the ship is still visible and Ricky could have stared at it for hours.
It would have been a perfect visit to the beach – no one there, rocks to scramble over, waves splashing, cool shipwreck to explore – but the wind was blowing 22+ mph! The sand was blasting us and Bobby was at risk of blowing away! We made it almost an hour before seeking shelter.
Friend White Elephant Party at the Bucks. We laughed through some Obama Llama and Clapping Matthew, Mark, and Luke games. We came away sporting a Patrick Swayze shirt and an okayest neighbor shirt.
As soon as we got back from CA, I got sick. Billy had been sick while we were gone and it hit me hard! Kevin worked from home a lot and I slept a lot. * Juice and crackers were my diet for several days with Tylenol chasers. The cats always enjoy my sick days because my lap is open for napping. Bobby thought I should be Wonder Woman, so Kevin had to be Batman. Illness can’t keep heroes down! * After several days, I was craving cookies. But sick people shouldn’t bake. I forgot half the flour. While I was feeling sorry for my sick, cookie-less self, Billy walked past me and put a smile on my face. He was “just playing!”
