Today Ricky was singing while playing, as he is very prone to do, and my sister stopped to pay attention to WHAT he was actually singing. It was one of those situations where I hear it all day long and kind of tune it out, so I needed a new ear to point out the funniness of it. Ricky’s song went something like, “I am the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man. I am the muffin man, hi-ho the derry-o, the muffin man.”
Billy’s vocabulary is bursting. He was looking for Ricky this afternoon and was checking all the rooms calling “Keykey! Keykey!” He’ll say that when he sees a picture of Ricky too. Billy has caught on to thank you and when he will say it, his “dank ew” is just the cutest thing. He knows to say, “eese” for pictures and for when he wants some cheese from the fridge. “Nacks” are fruit snacks from the cupboard. And Billy let me know this morning that he wanted the “doe” opened (the door). It is lots of fun to understand him, but a little disconcerting since I still think of him as my baby!
I knew that my brother Dan and his son, Cousin Danny, were coming this afternoon, so I told Ricky that he had to be good so a special visitor could come see us (the tricks moms use to get their sons to share). Every five minutes or so, Ricky would pop up at my elbow asking “Is it Mickey Mouse?” and “Is it Batman?” Then the sweet, “Is it Grandma?”
At church on Sunday, we sat near an elderly woman who uses a cane to get around. When the meeting was finished, she got up and walked out ahead of us. Ricky pointed and said, “Look! It is Grandma Evelyn!” (that is Kevin’s grandma) I told him that it wasn’t and he said, “But she’s walking with a stick?!”
