Billy smooshed his fingers at church today. The boy’s favorite phrase is “me dew it!” (said in a gruff, bossy voice). Today as we walked into church, Billy wanted to open the door, called out “me dew it” and then grabbed the door. Those entry doors are very heavy and before Kevin could help, the door closed on his little fingers. Church started with tears today!
Billy is also bossy. Have I mentioned before that Billy is bossy? Well, Billy is bossy. We’ve tried to add Billy into the blessing on the food rotation and when we tell him it is his turn, the gruff little voice comes out and says, “No! Ricky dew it!”
Billy is also a tease! I’ve mentioned this before but a new tactic is to push his Uncle Tony’s button! Billy knows who Tony is and has been able to say his name for quite a while, but lately if Tony says, “who am I?” Billy’s answer is, “Tim.” He is a stinker and he knows he’s being a stinker–there is no mistake being made, Billy is doing it on purpose. We have some fun years ahead of us with this one!
Billy loves stories and I read him one about Lightning McQueen and his friend Mater the tow truck almost daily. One line in the book describes Mater as “old and rusty.” Each and every time, Billy says, “Not Rusty! Mater truck.”
This is a picture of Ricky playing with a game he got in Primary one week. It has a mouth that holds fruits and veggies and a trash can for things that aren’t good for our bodies like cigarettes and a bottle of alcohol. He was talking to his toys and said, “A-L-C-O-H-O-L. I don’t know what that is, but it’s for the trash.”
We aren’t gamers. Really, we aren’t. But as my duty as a parent, I feel the boys should at least be exposed to video games and not be complete geeks in their ignorance. So we are starting slow–with Pac-Man. Mrs. Pac-man to be truthful. Ricky loves it and I know how to play so all is well for now. Plus, it makes a great incentive for good behavior. Tonight all I had to say was “boys who don’t whine about putting their pjs on but smile instead earn 5 more games of Pac-man tomorrow.” Amazing how big he smiled!
Billy is figuring out that Rusty is something fun. He has started giving him kisses whenever he gets the chance. It is really very sweet. While I was fixing dinner the other night, Billy started playing with Rusty and kissing him and I had to snap some pictures.
And this picture . . .
reminded me a lot of this one (taken April 2007).
I love my boys. Happy Mother’s Day to me!
