We arrived at Disneyland right about nap time. Not such a good idea, but the boys handled it pretty well. Our first ride was the Disneyland Railroad that takes you around the park. Billy was thrilled to ride Thomas, James, or Percy (depending on what color the train was). We had to ride the RR several times each day.
From there we entered the never-ending-line-to-Nemo, or the Finding Nemo Submarine line. This was just about the longest line we waited in on our whole trip. The boys ate lunch while we waited and flirted with the Asian girls in front of us. I don’t know what they were saying, but they looked at the boys and smiled a lot. Once we got on the submarine, Billy called, “Nemo, where are you? Nemo, where are you?” non-stop until he finally saw Nemo.
Our next stop was Buzz Lightyear (from “Toy Story 2”). On this ride you get to shoot a laser gun at targets and your points are accumulated as you go. I rode with Ricky and helped him aim while Billy and Kevin rode together and both pretty much just played on their own — shh, don’t tell Ricky that Billy scored more than he did!
One of the top 5 fun things we did was dinner on Monday night. Inside the Disneyland Hotel is a restaurant called “Goofy’s Kitchen.” It is a buffet with pretty good food, but the best part is that different characters come out and visit with you at your table while you are eating. Fabulous!
Our first character greeting was Minnie. She adored Rusty. They don’t speak, but she kept making kissy noises at him and gave him a sweet kiss.
Ricky was really excited to see Chip (as in Chip & Dale) and I’m not sure why. Yeah, he was a cute chipmunk, but we haven’t seen him in too many movies.
Billy wasn’t so sure about him.
And Chip played a lengthy game of Peek-A-Boo with Rusty.
Goofy made his appearance next. Every half hour Goofy came out and danced with the kids on a psuedo dance floor. The boys danced really cute, Ricky trying to mimick Goofy and Billy just bouncing up and down. We were there for more than 90 minutes, so the boys got to dance 3 times — they just kept eating and eating and since it was so fun, we didn’t mind being there that long.
Goofy was pretty taken with the baby too.
Then we saw Dale (other half of Chip and Dale). Again, Ricky was so tickled!
Dale especially won a spot in Ricky’s heart by sitting on the high chair (Billy refused to even think about sitting in that chair for babies) and sipping from his drink. Ricky laughed and laughed about that. He even retold me about it tonight!
Then came Snow White. We were in a circular room and we were the last table the characters visited in the room. When we pointed out the princess to Ricky, he declared, “I don’t like girls!” But by the time she had visited with him and taken the pictures, he was blowing her kisses!
We were a bit worried about all 5 of us sharing one room and having the boys sleep well. We had nothing to worry about. After dinner, we went back to our room, read a few stories, turned the lights off, and the boys were out!
