We started our second day in New Orleans Square seeing some ghosts and pirates. Neither ride scared the boys, but Billy was NOT thrilled about people screaming when the lights went out in the stretching room in the Haunted Mansion. Then we headed to Toontown (after the obligatory train ride for Billy). The boys saw Pluto the previous night at Goofy’s Kitchen, but we didn’t get a picture, so we had to hug the dog again.
Minnie was off doing a photo shoot, but the boys had fun exploring her home and sitting on her couch.
They are the sons of a Computer Professional — here they are checking out Minnie’s pink computer.
Then we got to meet Mickey — the Godfather of Disney himself, or so I’ve been told.
Billy and Ricky just ran right up to the big mouse and hugged the stuffing out of him.
Rusty slept through it all.
Then the boys took a run through Chip and Dale’s tree house and Goofy’s garden.
We also wanted to give Ricky his first roller coaster experience on the kiddie coaster in Toontown before taking him on the mountain rides. Billy was actually tall enough to ride this one too, so Kevin rode with Billy and Ricky had to ride alone. I think his face says it all.
Driving Goofy’s car …
Toontown was just too much fun for our boys.
We did head back to the hotel for lunch and some down time. My mom flew out to spend a couple of days with us at Disneyland and spend time with Aunt Nancy. She arrived for lunch. The boys were playing and suddenly Ricky jumped up, ran to the bathroom, and called out, “Billy, count to 11!” He wanted Billy to wait for him but why 11? It made us laugh.
Mom and I took Rusty and spent a couple of hours shopping that afternoon while Kevin took the big boys to the pool. The Disneyland Hotel pool is so cool. There is a pirate ship and a slide. Billy loved that slide and kept saying “one more time, one more time.”
The boys took a bit of a nap after the pool and then we went back to the park. Ricky wanted to show Grandmama the ghosts and we had some frozen treats (I love the chocolate covered frozen bananas). That night, my mom stayed with the sleeping boys and Kevin and I got to play in Disneyland by ourselves for a few hours. We rode Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones (both of which still had really long lines on a Tuesday night after 10 pm). We also hit Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain before catching the last ride on the Monorail back to the hotel. Thunder Mountain in the dark is excellent! Kevin kept his eyes open on Space Mountain and actually enjoyed it this time! We got back to the hotel after midnight, but it was well worth it!
