We started our third Disney day on our way to Fantasyland and all the kiddie rides! Billy was checking it out on the map as we rode the Monorail into the park.
Kevin, Grandmama, and the big boys flew high with Dumbo.
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and all the rides brought Billy’s pointer finger up and a “one more time.”
Here Billy and I are riding on the Red Caboose of the Casey Jr. Train. We had to sing “Little Red Caboose” at least once while we rode along. That reminds me of another train obsession Billy had while we were there. The Disney RR circles the park and frequently blows its whistle. Every time Billy heard the whistle, he would put his hand to his ear and say, “Listen!”
The boys wanted to play in Toontown again and here’s Billy resting on Minnie’s bed.
This time they figured out how to wash Minnie’s dishes.
And by the time we posed by this firetruck, Billy was done for the morning.
We managed to hit 15 rides before lunch and it was a lot of fun. I also took Ricky on the Matterhorn. The line was short and when I asked him if he was ready for it, he told me yes. (When he told Grandpa Brent about the ride later that week, he kept calling it the Honking Hornet. It took me a few minutes to figure out what he was talking about.) I told Ricky that he had to watch out for a polar bear on the ride. He was so excited to see the “angry polar bear with red eyes” twice! Ricky enjoyed the ride and didn’t act scared at all — I was so proud!
That afternoon, Kevin and I took a nap with the boys since we were exhausted from the late night before. My mom met up with Aunt Nancy and my cousin Alice. After we were rested, we all were going to meet for a parade in California Adventure. Yeah, don’t do that. There is no parade on Wednesdays in California Adventure. So then we went to see the parade in Disneyland. Aunt Nancy and I parked ourselves on a quiet bench near the flag pole so I could feed Rusty. I chose that bench because there weren’t a lot of people around and shortly after getting settled, an announcement came over the PA . . . “everyone gather to the flag pole for the retiring of the flag.” My quiet bench was no more!
Before the parade, the boys got their Mickey Mouse ear hats. I let them choose and I think they did a great job. Kevin looks pretty good in Billy’s hat, too!
Then there was this crazy lady who kept talking to me . . . or maybe that was Aunt Nancy. I get so confused!
Billy wanted the hat. Picked out the hat. But still doesn’t like wearing the hat.
Remember how I said we went to Disneyland for the parade? We checked the map and picked the perfect bench to watch it from . . . yeah, don’t do that either. They don’t have the parade in the evenings. It is a street celebration and it is not in front of that bench. But it wasn’t far and Kevin and I held the boys up so their view was good.
Billy got tired of sitting on my shoulders.
Mom and Aunt Nancy stayed on the bench and kept Rusty company.
After our second missed parade, we went to dinner at this jazz themed place. The food was quite good and the boys were very well behaved and enjoyed the crayons and paper the restaurant provided. The boys even got an appetizer with their kid’s meals — carrots and celery with ranch dressing for dipping. They weren’t so interested until Kevin showed them how to use the dressing as a dip. Billy caught right on . . . he dipped each crayon into the dressing and licked it right off!
