Disneyland, Day 4

We started our fourth day separated.  Kevin had a late start with the little boys so that I could take Ricky into Disneyland alone.  I wanted to let him ride a couple of the faster rides.  We started on Thunder Mountain, a roller coaster train ride.  At one point in the line there is a water feature perfect for wishing pennies.  I let Ricky have a penny and told him about making wishes there.  He held his penny tight and said, “I wish Billy was big enough to ride the rides.”  It was just so sweet!

Ricky had so much fun on Thunder Mountain and then we headed to Splash Mountain, a log flume ride.  He ADORED it!  We were in the back so we didn’t get very wet, but the downside is that you couldn’t see Ricky at all in the picture they take just before the big drop.  I asked Ricky which ride he liked better and he replied, “They are both the best!”  We met up with Kevin and the little boys at California Adventure a bit later.

The first ride we rode was based on the “Toy Story” movie and was another shoot the target type game.  I wasn’t overly thrilled with the ride and thought it was so not worth the wait in line!  Ricky thought it was okay and, again, we aren’t telling him that Billy scored higher.  Mr. Potato Head greeted us as we waited in line.

I didn’t get many pictures in California Adventure.  We only rode two rides, the Toy Story one and one based on “Monsters, Inc.”  We did see two fun shows though.  After the rides, I told Ricky that we were going to see a show.  He whined, “But I don’t wannnnna see a show!”  I knew otherwise.  We were seated on the front row of a big room and the show began . . . it was the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Show.   When I let it slip the day we left to California that Mickey lived there, Ricky had started looking for the Clubhouse, so when out rolled a big Clubhouse set, Ricky’s jaw nearly hit the floor!  Both boys were totally enthralled.  Out came their favorite characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and Tigger and Pooh.  Kevin taped the whole show so that the boys could watch it again and again.  Billy danced and danced when it was over and we had to be practically booted out of the theater.

The next show we saw was a 3-D Muppet show.  When a big bug came flying out of the screen at us, Ricky jumped up and tried to grab it!  Throughout the show he would lift his 3-D glasses up and peek at the screen.  Billy seemed to enjoy it, but wasn’t quite sure what to think about the 3-D stuff.  After the shows, we went back to the hotel for a rest.

That evening we went back to Disneyland to hit a few more rides.  Ricky wanted to ride the “Honking Hornet” again (aka the Matterhorn), so Kevin took the little ones by the carousel to wait.  The line moved quickly and Ricky again adored the roller coaster!  Then we decided to ride the carousel.  We were happily waiting in line, when I felt something wet hitting my foot, only to realize that the little boy next to me was wetting his pants.  I crowded Kevin and felt sorry for his poor mother!

Rusty and I may not have ridden a horse, but our bench was still fun!

Here are a few fun pictures Ricky and I took with the Matterhorn behind us.

As we walked back to the hotel, I explained to the boys that the next day would be our last day and then we would leave Disneyland for a long, long time.  Ricky made a sad face and asked, “Can we hug Mickey and Minnie and Goofy good-bye?”  And little Billy turned and waved to the Monorail and said, “Bye, Thomas.  Bye, Thomas!”

So why all the pillows around Billy’s cot which is, oh, 4 inches off the ground to begin with?  We would wake up in the middle of the night for Rusty and have to be careful where we stepped because Billy kept rolling off the cot.  The pillows were there more as a blockade than damage control.

Ok. Enough is enough. I can’t take it any longer. We’re coming with you next time. That’s just how it has to be.
