Last Friday afternoon, we had 6 little boys, four and five years old, over for Ricky’s party. It was fun, but as we watched them running around, I knew I was not meant to ever have septuplets! The boys just played for the first little bit. Ricky was so excited to have so many of his friends over all at once and bounced around trying to show them everything.
Billy was only with us for a few minutes before his days of sickness caught up with him and he needed a nap. Poor little guy. He was so excited about friends coming over but just couldn’t make it!
Then we tried to corral them and be crafty. The boys got to make themselves a car out of a cardboard box. A big thanks to Kevin, Suzy, and Shanae for making this happen (and my mom for holding Rusty for the whole party). Some of the boys got really into it, others weren’t so interested, but they were all excited when we lined them up at the starting line . . .
And they all loved racing across the yard to the finish line . . .
And very few of them actually followed the outlined race course . . . (Ricky was perhaps the worst at this)
Next they drove their cars to the Drive-Thru for their absolutely adorable cupcake. Man, these things are cute! (cupcake/brownie burgers and sugar cookie fries – love ’em!)
We sang to Ricky and did presents next. He got some Handy Manny toys, a nerf gun, water guns, a shark sand toy, Magic Sand, and Memory. The kid scored!
Our final activity was letting the boys go through the Car Wash. Round and round they went, laughing and squealing and doing their best to frustrate Kevin! They bumped the sides or pulled on it and since the whole contraption wasn’t glued together, it would spring a leak that Kevin would have to go in to fix. He wasn’t expecting to get wet like the boys! But the kids had a great time!
The party ended with them just playing until their folks showed up. Ricky loved it and that’s what I was hoping for.
When Billy woke up, he saw the “french fries” and was adamant that he wanted them. He was a bit surprised when he put the first one in his mouth. In his sad, sad voice he let us know how unhappy he was. Then he asked for some ketchup. I guess sugar cookie french fries taste better with ketchup. I wouldn’t know . . .
It was a very good, but long day.
