Soup will NOT be on the menu for a while, but some of the other things we occasionally have are worth mentioning…
Spaghetti – this is a favorite of all 3 boys and is an easy go-to meal that I know will not cause any whining. But did you know that spaghetti has a large family?
Spaghetti’s Cousin – aka, tuna noodle casserole. Don’t mention the tuna, that will wrinkle noses and Ricky already pushes the “pink parts” aside, but if you call it spaghetti’s cousin, he’ll give it a try. (Last time we had this Billy laughed and laughed about the potato chips on top — I guess I didn’t crush them up enough to disguise them)
Spaghetti’s Sister – aka, ravioli or tortellini. This was our first experiment with making a relationship between the pastas and it worked so well, that we added the others.
Spaghetti’s Other Cousin – aka, lasagna. Billy doesn’t need any coaxing to eat lasagna (last time we had it, his portion ran out and he convinced Kevin to give up most of his!), but Ricky is a bit more picky. Even relating this one to spaghetti doesn’t always work, but we still try.
Pizza Pasta – aka, baked ziti. This cheesy pasta dish reminded Billy of pizza the first time I made it for him and it has become a favorite of his. It doesn’t have a direct relationship with spaghetti in name (even though it is made the most like spaghetti of the bunch), so I’m guessing it is spaghetti’s next door neighbor.
