The boys slept in a little bit (all the way to 7:30) on Easter morning, but when they woke up, they were as excited as if it were Christmas morning! First things first … finding the baskets the Easter Bunny hid.
The Easter Bunny was very wise and put very little candy in Billy’s eggs. It is almost as if he knew that Billy would be opening and eating that candy instantly! Well, after he lined up all of his eggs and other basket goodies …
Billy found his basket pretty quickly (I only gave him one clue) and Ricky knew his would be hidden harder, so he needed a couple of clues to find his on top of the hutch. After the baskets were emptied, they were off to find the eggs we’d colored the night before at Grandmama’s.
Ricky was in charge of high places and Billy was in charge of whatever eggs he could find!
Somehow, without any planning or manipulation, both boys found the same number of eggs!
The eggs were all found and it was finally time for breakfast. We told the boys how yummy hard boiled eggs are and what a treat they are for breakfast. Yeah, they didn’t believe us, but they had fun cracking them open.
I think Billy got bored part way through.
Ricky did eat the egg white and Billy tasted it, so I have to give them some credit! They also learned that you are only allowed to crack an egg on an adult’s head … they are harder than little kid heads!
A little bit later, Rusty finally woke up. The boys all got dressed in their season-appropriate Easter outfits and we tried to get a picture. Here is one more decent shot (for more see previous post):
Rusty finally got to do his own little egg hunt after his breakfast.
The big boys spread some empty plastic eggs on the front room floor and Rusty walked/crawled around picking them up and putting them in a basket.
Rusty’s basket wasn’t hidden well at all … but it took him a long time to even notice it! He liked the marshmallow Chicks and Rabbits best!
