Kevin went to a conference for work for a week in May. The boys missed him a lot (remember, he is their favorite). To help Rusty understand where Poppy went, I told him that he’d taken the suburban to the airport, took an airplane to Las Vegas, took a taxi to the hotel and then stayed there for his meetings. Frequently during the week, Rusty would say, for no reason, “Poppy’s in Las Vegas” or “Poppy took an airplane” or “The suburban’s at the airport.” It got a little old … yes, son, I know your dad is in Las Vegas, but thank you for only telling me 15 times in the last hour … but I do think it helped Rusty cope with his favorite being gone.
When Poppy came home, he brought presents. He didn’t spend big bucks on these presents, mind you. They were just the leftovers from a week of booths and meetings. The expandable ball thing and slinkies were a pretty big hit, but I’m not so sure about the hats and antlers …
Rusty was in a lot of a hurry to get that thing off his head.
I don’t think Billy was really interested in a kiss from me in that hat …
Thanks for thinking of us while you were gone, dear. We are all THRILLED to have you back home!
