I love Halloween. Bet you didn’t know that, huh? But I do.
I’m doing my best to make my boys love it as well. This year I totally think I succeeded.
Our neighborhood does a big Trunk or Treat on a dead end road instead of house to house trick or treating on Halloween. There is usually chili or doughnuts and a lot of socializing.
Getting dressed up went incredibly smoothly this year … that could be because two of the boys were clowns and I have that costume TOTALLY down!
Ricky chose to be a ghost this year. Billy wanted to be a green ninja so he could hide in the trees and scare the neighbor kids (I opted for the more traditional black ninja look with a green belt to appease him). Tommy didn’t care and Rusty … ahh, Rusty. He changed his mind every single day and sometimes several times a day. I finally took his choice away and told him he was going to be a clown. He didn’t like that idea. He continued to give me suggestions up until the day before Halloween when we were at the costume store and I let him pick out a clown gun. Suddenly, being a clown was totally cool! He shot people with that gun ALL. NIGHT. LONG.
Ricky was sure he’d be the scariest costume at Trunk or Treat and Billy was sure no one would notice him because he was the best ninja. Billy was most excited about his swords which I FINALLY was letting him play with! (Big, mean mom who won’t let her boys play with their costumes before Halloween …)
And sweet Tommy … he was a perfect clown. I originally planned to put him in the red clown pants, but he wasn’t interested in that. So, they went onto Rusty and Tommy got the other. He must have known how dang cute he would be in that costume. And the glasses? He kept them on almost all night long. Absolutely perfect.
I went for the basic witch costume … the boys laughed when I came out and Tommy must have repeated “Itch! Itch!” at least a dozen times!
Kevin went for Superman this year. Easy … and who doesn’t want to be called “Clark” all day at work?
It was a fabulous Halloween night!
Sigh. Sadly it is over now … but I think I got enough pictures of Kevin with hair to tide me over until next year! hee hee
