Family Dinner a la February

The boys love having the family over.  And I mean they love it.  They ask when is the next time we can have people over and they count down the days and get all excited asking who is coming and who isn’t … so we do family dinners fairly regularly.

We try to do one each February because of their birthdays … not looking for presents, just making them feel like everybody remembered their birthday and came to sing to them.  It works.

This year was no different, except we took very few pictures.

Aunt Nancy wanted to provide the cake, so, by all means, I let her!  She got an adorable one with a caterpillar on it and all three of our February birthday names.

Billy was adamant that he have the piece with the red circle on it.  Red is his favorite color.  It used to be “Red, blue, black, green …” but for the last several months he’s been sticking with red.

The only part of the cake Billy ate was the big red dot.  The bakery told Aunt Nancy the cake had like 2 1/2 pounds of frosting on it – or something nearly as ridiculously sugary!

The big red dot didn’t settle well with Billy’s tummy.  Later that night it became a bigger red dot on the bathroom floor … and on his pajamas … and the closed toilet lid.

He felt better the next day.
