Last month, Billy’s kindergarten put on a patriotic program. They call it “The Kindy 500.” The kids make cardboard cars and after singing a few songs for the folks, they parade by the parents and then drive their cars to different national monuments and learn about them for the rest of their day at school.
I wasn’t too excited about the car making. With Ricky, I was shocked by how involved and detailed some of these cars were! I asked Billy what he wanted his car to look like and he asked for a Batmobile. I figured we could handle that. I cut out a few bat pieces, Kevin and Billy spray painted everything up, and then we glued it all together. Not much time spent, not the most beautiful car, but Billy was totally and completely happy with it.
The classes filed onto the bleachers and sang us a few songs. Billy is the second to last one on the left …
Here is two and a half minutes of his program and the car parade afterwards … HERE. Sorry for the quality. I was using my phone and while some of Billy’s jerkiness is the camera, he was also doing a lot of bouncing on his own while he sang. (back row, left side, black shirt)
