Ricky Turned 9

Somehow my oldest baby turned 9 in July.  I’m not really sure how that happened … because that kind of makes me feel old!  And isn’t Ricky supposed to look like this forever …

Whether I want him to or not, he doesn’t look like that any more.  Ricky is adorable like this, too …

Ricky and I went out for his birthday.

We ate lunch at Subway and went to the DI where he got to pick out a bunch of new books (he reads through books SO fast!).

We stopped at the ice cream place and he picked out an ice cream cake.

It was just kind of fun going out and doing errands just for him.

He passed his well-check with his doctor the next day.  I can’t find the paper that said what he weighed or how tall he is – but he’s a bit bigger than last year.  The doctor does want him doing a bit more to build up his muscles, so it is a good thing we’ve got our new yard with room for riding a bike, the big pool we had during the summer, and the new swing set to challenge those muscles of my boy.

I’m not sure what Ricky wished for, but his brothers seemed to think he needed some help blowing out those candles!

Ricky is a good kid.  He’s a great reader, loves to pretend, and creates lots of stories.  He can be incredibly helpful and has done a lot to help me out this summer in my tired, pregnant lady condition.  He plays very well with his younger brothers and often will choose to play with them instead of his friends.  He is very musical and is getting pretty good at his piano playing.   Is Ricky perfect?  No, but since I am far from perfect as his momma, we forgive each other often.  I’m awfully glad this tow-head is my not-so-little boy!
