One of Rusty’s countdowns finally hit zero … he got to start preschool!!!
He was up very early and got himself dressed in such a hurry that he had to come find Kevin and I … he’d put his head through his sleeve and couldn’t get it back out!
We had gone to an open house the week before so he knew where his class was and what he was supposed to do when he got there. Rusty was so excited he didn’t even want to walk the big brothers to the bus stop for fear of getting home too late to make it to preschool!
Tommy understood that this was Rusty turn to go and was excited for his big brother. We had to give loves …
When he came home, he talked and talked about preschool. He’d made a new friend named Taggart (although each time Rusty tried to say he’d made a new friend, he’d whisper to us “What was his name again?”). It was Taggart’s actual birthday and he’d brought doughnuts for a treat! Rusty thought that was the coolest!
I was so glad Rusty had a good time. He’s a smart cookie and preschool is going to be very good for him! Now if he’ll just be good for preschool …
Rusty wasn’t quite as excited to go the second day. I don’t know if it was because on Fridays it is a different set of kids, so our neighbor friend wasn’t going to be there or if it was because I said no to the lime green shirt and emerald green pants clothing combo he’d chosen or because Tommy was going to go.
The boys’ preschool teacher is a good friend and had openings in the Friday class. She offered to let Tommy come and I took her up on it. I wanted Rusty to have his own preschool experience without Tommy always being there, which is why I didn’t sign him up for the full week, but one out of three days I figured Rusty could share. They both very much enjoyed their day at school – even if I didn’t let them wear green pants – and both are looking forward to more!
We love our preschool!
