We have a new star to add to the blog. Please welcome, Bobby …
Last Wednesday, I received a thank you note in the mail. Tommy confiscated it immediately – before I even had a chance to read it. I asked him what it said. Tommy told me that it said the baby was coming that day. Hmm, pretty close!
I woke up at 3 am,Thursday morning, watched the clock and counted for about 30 minutes before poking Kevin’s bum hard enough to wake him up. It was finally time, as my friend stated it, to give Baby #5 his eviction notice!
Grandmama was fabulous and came to our house fast. She was willing and prepared to get my boys to school for me so that I wouldn’t have to worry about that. I didn’t expect #5 to arrive quite so quickly! We got to the hospital just after 4:30 and he was born at 6:06 am on Thursday, September 5, 2013.
He weighed in at 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
We still weren’t positive what we would name him.
The name we finally decided to go with is Robert Dodge Pendleton. Hello, Bobby!
The “Robert” comes from Kevin’s Uncle Rob and the “Dodge” is a family name on my side. A great-something grandpa served in the Mormon Battalion whose name was Augustus Erastus Dodge. We thought about going with Erastus, but …
Bobby looks a bit cranky in these pictures, but he had an easy entry into the world and wasn’t really mad – he just didn’t like the bright lights!
The last month of my pregnancy had felt SO long that his quick entry kind of threw me for a loop. We were laughing and joking through the whole delivery and suddenly there was this cute little baby boy!
He had lots of dark hair and his eyes almost looked dark enough to tease me that they might go brown … but I’m realistic enough to know that the hair will probably come in blond and those eyes are going to turn a pretty shade of blue just like my other boys!
Somehow we are new parents again. With five boys. I just keep reminding myself that the Lord knows better than I do and He has faith that I can do it … so I guess I really can.
Welcome to the family, Bobby! We love your cuteness already!
