Back in September Rusty and Tommy’s preschool took a field trip to a fire station. Seeing as I had an 11 day old baby, Kevin got to be the good parent chaperone.
It seems that he always gets to go on this particular field trip with the boys. I’m pretty sure he went with Ricky and Billy when they were in preschool as well.
Ms. Cherie at the preschool is good friends with a fireman, so the kids get a pretty good show.
One of the best parts (for the mom to hear about afterwards) is the fireman dresses up in the full firefighter gear – helmet, mask, boots, coats, etc. The idea is to let the kids see what a firefighter might look like when coming to save them from a burning building so that they won’t be even more scared.
Kevin was taking pictures and watching the firefighter himself so he didn’t notice Tommy during this presentation. One of our friends nudged him and he saw that Tommy was on the verge of tears and not looking particularly thrilled. Kevin had to go sit with him until he felt better.
The kids got to climb in the fire truck and listen to the siren. Tommy stayed closer to Kevin – Rusty was just fine hanging out with his friends.
The boys always come home excited about this field trip and firefighters.
I’m glad Kevin likes going along too!
