Ricky’s scout troop had their Blue and Gold Banquet last month. It had an Olympic theme and was actually kind of fun (said the mom who isn’t a big fan of pack meetings).
The boys got to do some carpet Curling …
They used a broom to sweep a soccer ball down to the goal box. The floor was sloped and it was a lot harder than it looked to land that ball right into the box. Ricky was SO excited when he did it perfectly! See, he’s jumping for joy!
Billy got a chance to try after the scouts had all gone. He got out there and owned that curling event. He was cruising incredibly fast down the court and everyone was yelling, “Slow down, Billy! Slow it down!”
He didn’t slow down. He took it right to the line and, somehow, landed that ball exactly where it needed to be … like he’d been doing this for years. “Yeah, that was easy,” he seemed to say.
They also did some target shooting with dart guns. Ricky was a pretty good shot!
Billy might have taken it a bit too seriously …
After the games, we had a lovely hot dog dinner and then the awards were handed out. Ricky earned his Bear badge, which means I earned my Bear badge pin!
The night wasn’t over yet (we were very thankful for Grandmama who was home watching the youngest three so we could enjoy the evening a bit better). There was a performance by Ricky’s den using their instruments made of recycled goods …
You can see the short video clip HERE.
And the last event was Ricky’s troop getting up and sharing the Cub Scout motto.
A lot of cute boys with great leaders helping them along!
