Ricky studied volcanoes in science this last month and the culmination of that study was to build and erupt a volcano. This was new to me, so I helped as best I could.
Ricky built his volcano out of salt water dough. That sucker was heavy! But it looked cool. We were going to paint it, but it took too long to dry, so Ricky ‘s volcano was a slight pinkish white. He just decided it was a volcano somewhere in the arctic. He’s good like that.
He built his volcanoes with two spouts. We tried a couple of different techniques and decided to go with the baking soda and vinegar one. It wasn’t super flashy or spectacular, but it worked and his volcano kept oozing “lava” for a really long time. I think he was happy with it. I sometimes feel bad that he’s our guinea pig when it comes to parenting – I know how to do volcanoes much better for next time – but Ricky is such a good sport that he makes it all okay!
Love that boy!
