This and That

I accidentally tried to kill our Maggie cat twice in one week.  The weather turned colder and she decided to start burrowing into blankets.  I then stepped on said blankets and was treated to a great big, “MEEEOOOOOOW!”

We had a few dozen apples left on our tree that we wanted to harvest.  Once Kevin saw that most of them looked like this … we left them on the tree.

I don’t normally make a habit of taking pictures during family prayer time, but I couldn’t resist one night.  Billy was saying the prayer – wearing his one glove, as he often does.  His prayer included, “Please bless us that we won’t be bored …”   He then went on to be thankful for every room in the house and all the furniture in each of those rooms (individually).  Billy is a good pray-er!

Sizzle from Tommy’s preschool got to spend a few days with us.  The first day Tommy carried him all over.  After that, he sat in a pile in Tommy’s room.  Unlike a couple of his brothers, Tommy has never been a huge fan of stuffed animals and playing with them.

But Tommy is a big fan of one of our neighbor girls.  Charlotte is 3 and adorable and Tommy says her name so cute that I make him say it frequently.  She came over to play one day and they snuggled up very cutely on the couch to watch a show!

Tommy’s New Year Goal was to ride a bike without training wheels in the dirt.  I thought it was a HUGE long shot, but he was adamant, so I wrote it down.  That kid amazes me … he mastered his bike without ever needing a balancing hand from his dad or anything.  The training wheels came off a couple of weeks ago and now he rides his bike down the curbing in front of the lawn!  New Years Goal accomplished.

Not to be left behind, Rusty’s training wheels came off too.  He only needed a little help and he can do it just fine … he just doesn’t want to ride.  Actually, he doesn’t want to pedal.  He pedals a couple of times, coasts, and then falls over.  It would be funny if I weren’t the mom trying to encourage him not to fall over!   My guess is next spring he’ll have more interest and will pick right up on it.  But, he can do it and his training wheels are gone, too.

Our city does a Halloween Haunt in October.  They light a lot of luminaries and have pumpkin displays and cookies with hot chocolate.  A fairly recent addition is a spook alley.  Being the good mom I am,  I made the four older boys go through with me.  It was fun!  Ricky and Billy went through very quickly with their friend Hyrum.  I held Rusty and Tommy’s hands and told them, “if you scream really loud at the monsters, you will scare them instead of them scaring you!”  See?  Good mom.

As we went through, Tommy was screaming constantly!  He was going to scare those monsters and scare them good!

And, just because it was fun, I found this shirt in a drawer.  It was my sports jersey from when I was 12 years old and playing church ball.  It fit.  That was totally picture worthy!

There you go.
