Billy was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 28.
He was very excited about it. His dad baptized and confirmed him and we had lots of family and friends come support Billy.
Billy now has his own nice set of scriptures, scripture marking pencils, and a scripture carrying bag! He told me Sunday that some kids get a small, black suit when they get baptized and he wondered when he was going to be getting his. I had no plans to buy him a small, black suit and I told him we’d probably get Ricky a suit before he got one. Billy then said, “Maybe you could just get me one when you get Ricky one. Okay?” I guess he wants a suit. Small and black.
We had the family over for some food after the baptism. Since Billy was baptized at 9 am and he doesn’t really like breakfast food, I had a hard time deciding on the buffet. Billy was no help. When I asked what we should have, he replied, “We should have pizza and brownies.” Sorry, son. I cannot feed people pizza and brownies at 10 o’clock in the morning. I just can’t. We ended up with a yogurt bar and muffins, as well as a sandwich bar and chips – if you wanted breakfast OR lunch, you were set.
We are very pleased with Billy’s choice to be baptized. He has been reading his scriptures and marking verses that he likes. This last Sunday, before church started, he asked for my help to fill out a tithing slip. Billy is building up his spirit and it is very impressive to see!
