Billy is 10

We did most of Billy’s celebrating a day early.  There was scouts and other things the evening of his birthday and President’s Day was the day before, so it just worked out better that way.

When I asked Billy where he wanted to go for dinner for his birthday, his first choice was Subway (he loves himself a meatball sub), but I convinced him that we should go nicer and to a sit down restaurant.  He thought a moment and said, “How about Panda Express?”  I told him we could definitely do Chinese, but better than the Panda!

We went to our local Chinese place called The New Hello China.  Billy had is first egg drop soup and LOVED it.  He devoured most everything and declared it WAY better than Panda Express.  Score!

Billy is a good kid.  I’m not sure how he is already 10 but sometimes it feels like he is already 50!  He is smart and enjoys reading.  He likes to look good, or at least how he considers himself to look good (he really likes dressing in the same color top to bottom).  He likes accessories – belts, watches, boyish necklaces.  He is faithful about wearing his retainer and stays on top of his homework responsibilities.

Billy isn’t afraid to charge into a situation and own it.  He thinks quickly and is often correct in his assumptions.  He is a leader at the bus stop, at school, at church, and with his friends.

It isn’t uncommon for someone to stop me, especially at church, and say, “I’ve just got to tell you what Billy said/did …”  And it is always something good or cute or unique.  The music lady in Primary LOVES him!

He loves to do new things.  Billy likes helping in the kitchen or the yard, especially if you can just give him a few directions and then sit back and let him do it his way.  I sure do love my freckle nosed 10 year old!

He’s got his own style!
