Summing Up September

And then the rest of September …

Bobby had a cold go to his lungs again.  His pediatrician is worried about future asthma.  Because asthma and allergies are related, I started taking him to our chiropractor who has an allergy elimination treatment program.  He tested him to have a lot of season allergies (grasses and trees).  We haven’t had another problem since so our fingers are crossed that we are getting to the root of the problem.

Kevin and I spent a great day celebrating the marriage of this cute girl!  Meggen and Logan were married in the Logan Temple and we just love them!

My friend Shelly turned 40 so I threw her a pirate murder mystery dinner party.  We met in 8th grade and have been together ever since!

I invited the others who we hung out with and their husbands – Jana, Amy, Mindy, Shelly, and me.

We don’t all get together very often, but when we do, it is a great time!

I love that Kevin is willing to play along!

Sometimes my lap is too full to accomplish anything …

In September, I went with Bobby and his preschool class to the Ogden Nature Center.

Bobby had only been to preschool for a coupe of days, so going on a field trip was a new experience for him.  He loves the Nature Center and is very comfortable there.

His friends Lilly and Zuzu made it even more fun.

Cute preschool line up!

And cute preschooler face!

In September, Kevin and I started CERT Training.  It is a course for us to be part of our Community Emergency Response Team.  We learned about search and rescue, emergency response organization, and putting out fires …

We spent two weeks learning about first aid.  Sometimes we had to play the victim …

With season passes to Lagoon, we had to sneak in another visit …

Love a good Lagoon photo op …

With Bobby being 4, it was time for him to move to a twin bed.  But we didn’t own another one!  So after our trip to Lagoon, we stopped and bought a used bunk bed from the classifieds.  It didn’t fit quite as expected in our van with all 7 of us, so I had to ride on the floor.  It wasn’t very comfortable and I wouldn’t really recommend it!

Legos.  They are always playing with the Legos!

For Kevin’s birthday date, we went to Lagoon with our friends Becca and Brian.  No kids.  Kevin and Becca had neither been on Cannibal, the biggest and baddest roller coaster there, so that’s where we headed first!  As we stood in line, Becca became more and more nervous and Kevin became more and more angry!  Not at us, just at the existence of roller coasters at all.

The seats are 4 across, so Brian and I took the outside seats with the newbies in the middle.  The very first part of the roller coaster is riding up an elevator 200 feet and then you plummet down before hitting the twists and turns and upside down loops.  It’s great!  Well, I think it’s great.  And Brian thinks it’s great.  Kevin?  Well, he just got more and more angry as we went up the elevator.  “What is going on?  Why isn’t this rising level?  What was that?”  Becca just got more and more nervous and seemed a bit scared.

As the doors opened at the top, I believe Kevin yelled, in his angry voice, “You’ve got to be kidding me?!!” and then we plummeted down.  Becca began screaming in fear and then stopped because the noise coming from the seat next to her was so shocking!  It was Kevin.  Angry screaming.  A guttural, angry, full throat scream!!  It was so funny.  So, so, so funny!

Every twist and turn he produced some other “what the crap … ahhhhhhh!” comment.  Becca said it took all the fear out of her because she was now laughing too hard.  When we finally reached the end, Becca screamed at Brian, “You take our children on that ride???” and Kevin couldn’t even talk because his throat was so dry and hoarse.  Brian and I?  Well, we were both red faced with tears running down our cheeks.  You had to laugh and we had a hard time stopping!

Have no worries, Kevin laughed with us!!  A lot.  For the rest of the night!  It really was a happy experience and one that will come up at friend gatherings for years.  Becca’s comment to me was, “I’m so glad I witnessed that because I don’t know that I would have believed it otherwise!”

Kevin loved it and laughed and still smiles every time I mention it (which isn’t often).  Will he ride Cannibal again?  Um, not any time soon.

There you go!
