Sometimes a picture is worth a 1000 words. Other times, it’s is the words themselves that make the moment memorable. Here are some of our memorables from 2017 …

I asked Ricky the customary just got home from school questions – how was school, any homework, etc. He was one word answering me so I threw in, “kiss any girls?”
Ricky answered, “When cows fly.”
At least I know where he stands!

At bedtime one night, Rusty dragged out the dusty scripture basket and said, “it’s time for scriptures!”
Not sure if he was just delaying bedtime or was nudging me to get back on the ball with our family scripture time.

Bobby wanted to be finished with his dinner so he could get down and play. He took his water cup and reached over to mine and dumped is water into my cup.
Then he announced “All done!” and got down, washed his hands, and went back to his toys.

Bobby was hiding behind the couch. When he popped out, he was eating a cookie. We had not had any cookies that day. We joked that he must have stashed the cookie back there the day before when Grandmama had come over with cookies.
We laughed even more when he popped out again a few minutes later with TWO more cookies!

Tommy was sick and coughing all night. Bobby, who shared a bedroom with him, finally called out, “Tommy! Drink your water!”
To which Tommy replied by yelling back, “You’re not my parent!”
******
Bobby was coughing hard and Tommy yelled at him to get his barf bucket handy. Bobby grumpily replied, “Me coughing NOT barfing!”

In my bathroom cupboard cleaning, I found a bath gel for men that I didn’t remember having. I put it in Ricky’s shower and forgot to tell him about it. He came out one morning and went on and on and on about this shower gel … it smells like lumberjacks, what does lather mean, what is musk.
One, he must have enjoyed having new reading material in the shower. Two, I’ve seriously neglecting his learning regarding bath products!!

At a cafe in Midway, the waitress asked Bobby what he wanted and he said, “cheeseburger!”
We then had to tell him that we were eating breakfast and that wasn’t an option. He then told the waitress a Mickey Mouse pancake and chocolate milk. He snuck that chocolate milk order in really fast because the rest of the boys had been told we were just drinking water!

One night I turned on the Electric Slide and showed the boys that I still remembered the line dance for that song. Tommy said, “How can you do these moves? They’re so complicated! That’s amazing!”
It’s nice to know that I can still wow at least one of my kids!

Billy was singing to himself …
Jack jumped over the candlestick
Jack jumped over the candlestick
Jack jumped over and … explodes!
(at which point Momma cleared her throat)
So Billy added another line ….
Buuuuuut that would be bad!

After an evening at the new retro arcade with some friends, Ricky came home and said, “That was the craziest night of my life! All the lights and flashing stuff … it was like a dream! Not a day dream but a real dream! Crazy good night!”
******
A funny thing happened at dinner one night. While we were eating, we heard what sounded like a cat crying. We figured one of ours was locked in a closet or something. After searching and finding all 3 cats not locked anywhere, we were stumped and went back to eating again.
We heard it again! Finally we figured out that it was Bobby wheezing as he breathed!! He had a breathing treatment as soon as he was finished eating.

Bobby brought me a banana and asked, “Open this nana for me!”
******
I was trying to get 5 kids out the door for an orthodontist appointment. We spent 10+ minutes looking for Rusty’s shoe. Where did we find it, you might ask. Why the first place we should have looked …. Tommy’s backpack.
******
Rusty had a field trip and wanted to take a home sack lunch. I asked him what he wanted and he told me he didn’t want a sandwich. I asked what he thought went in a home lunch then. He put his finger to his chin and contemplatively said, “Food.”
That’s why we pay for school lunch.
******
Bobby wanted to play on the iPad and kept following me around, “You do passcode! Please, please, please!”
None of my other 3 year olds knew the word – passcode.
******
We go to swimming lessons at the same time as our friends the Bucks. Despite all the noise and chatter in my van after one of these lessons, I could clearly hear Bobby chanting, “Go, Mr. Buck! Go Mr. Buck!” as we followed the Buck’s down the street.

Driving to Zion National Park, Bobby kept asking, “Where are we?” I had told him, “the middle of no where” 5 miles earlier. When he asked again, Tommy replied, “The middle of no where!”
Bobby looked at Tommy and said, “We already passed there!”
******
We were driving home in the pouring rain and Bobby was singing,
It’s raining
It’s pouring
We’re dying

Kevin told Bobby to clean up his mess (2 M&Ms on the floor). Bobby said, “I can’t! I’m not strong enough!”
******
I asked Bobby how he knew the answer to all the questions in a show (that he’d seen dozens of times). He said, “Because I’m super smart!”
