June 2018

So many typos on my actual pages – a little bit me and probably a lot autocorrect!!  Read what I type here instead please!

June 2, 2018 – Tommy was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by his dad.  This smiley kid smiled all day!  Trevyn Jones was baptized the same time and lots of family and friends came to celebrate Tommy.  It’s always a special day for a mom!

June 7-9, 2018 – This was perhaps my favorite camping trip to date.  We went with the Bucks to Yuba Lake State Park.  It was 3 days of sitting around, enjoying great company, a nice campground with plenty of shade and not far from Yuba Lake where we could float and paddle and enjoy the sunshine.

Baseball and these boys!!!  Billy, Rusty, and Tommy all improved so much this year and I love watching them play … all 6 games per week!

June 18-22 – Rusty and Tommy participated in the Treehouse Museum Theater Workshop.  This year they performed “The Frog Prince.”  Tommy played the part of the frog prince’s pony and Rusty’s big part was being the frog priest at the end who performed the marriage.  It is such a great camp and so fun to see the boys perform!  We did it with the Buck’s and their cousins again this year.

While Bobby went to camp at the Ogden Nature Center, the big boys and I explored.  Ricky told the best puppet show story including the worm – his own finger!  We also did some playing at the Treehouse Museum.  Ricky as again a master puppeteer.  This time his audience was a worker trying to buy a ticket!  Bobby’s shark wanted to play, too!

Birthday party for Eli Buck at Classic Waterslides.  It was my first time there with the boys and they all loved it.  Ricky especially loved the barrel dumping water on his head! I couldn’t watch Billy going down – he’s too brave for me!

Kevin took the boys to the Hill Air Force Base Air Show.  Bobby’s new favorite plane is “the thunder birds!”  It was loud, crowded, and hot but they made a lot of memories and came home with lots of stories to tell!

June 25-July 2 – The Pendleton Family Reunion was in St. George again.  This time we were short our California families – Grandpa Brent, Grandma Jeanne, Wendi, and Sheri.  Grandpa had a hernia fixed right before and couldn’t travel and the others were needed home to help.  It definitely changed the feel of the the reunion and they were missed.

We tried to make the drive down a bit more fun by stopping for lunch in Nephi at the restaurant with all the train tracks … JC Mickelson’s.  We also visited Cove Fort and stretched our legs on a tour.  Plus, they have the cleanest restrooms on I-15.  I know because the sign said so!

It was great to see the boys connect with family members they normally don’t.  We played games, watched movies, did crafts, visited, and I cooked a lot of food!

One morning Rusty found a frog in the pool room and diligently shooed it out by crawling the whole way!

Pool time is something my boys very much look forward to at the reunion.  with 2 pools, there should always be swimming in my opinion.  Bobby does have to wear his puddle jumpers and an adult needs to be around, but he boy loves the water!  I love the slo-mo videos I got while people were being thrown in!  I’m not so much for being in the water myself, but I very much appreciate the fun that others do have.

Temple trip including baptisms

Cousin line-ups and piggyback rides

We stopped to visit Kevin’s Uncle Van and Aunt Melissa at their cabin near Cedar City.  It’s a super fun place and they are great people!

We took a break during the reunion and went to do our own thing.  We drove to Old Iron Town and saw the abandoned kiln and other fragments of buildings.  We also went to the Mountain Meadow Massacre Memorial site.  It was very reverent there – such a sad misunderstanding with horribly tragic results.  I learned a lot about what fear can do to people as I walked those grounds.  After all that fun, and a little bit of awkwardness, it was finally time to go home.
