We still haven’t discussed it with the boys, but according to my ultrasound today, they are getting a new brother around Valentine’s Day. I am so okay about that! Don’t get me wrong, buying pink and dresses would be fun, but I already know how to do boy stuff . . . Now to choose a color that is not blue for the new nursery (I have to remind myself that there are other boy colors out there–but I really like all the shades of blue)!
I went to get Billy from his nap yesterday afternoon and he held up his stuffed dog and said, “Diss!” This wasn’t a word I knew, so I didn’t do anything. Then he turned the dog around and kissed it right on the nose. Billy then asked me to “diss” the doggy again. He is learning new words left and right. Saturday, as I got out my Halloween decorations, he surprised us with a very clear “pum-kin.” Ricky took his time talking, so this is just fun for us!
Ricky is very observant, to a point. I think of it as selective observation. He instantly notices a bat that I hang from our dining room light, but he doesn’t seem to notice my growing stomach at all. He came home from preschool today and went room by room to see what changes I had made and then when Kevin came home from work, Ricky was able to take Kevin on a tour and recall each and every one of those changes.
A couple of weeks ago there was a church gathering at the park and Ricky unwillingly stopped playing on the toys to come and eat with us. He seemed to enjoy his food though.
Billy loves hats. We usually can’t get out the door without him reminding me that he needs his. Often he walks around the house wearing one that he picked up from who knows where. After his nap the other day, I walked in to find him with his little yellow blanket on his head, calling it his hat. He then spent the next hour or so looking like this.
Oh, he loves his belly button and sticks his finger in it whenever he gets the chance!
Billy loves little chairs and seats. Sunday he found Cousin Danny’s chair at Grandmama’s and had a great time sitting in it. Well, until Danny came and tried pulling him out!
Billy is warming up to people and isn’t as clingy as he was (huge sigh of relief). Even Uncle Tim, who seemed to be his worst enemy, earned this hug and kiss on Sunday.
When the family gets together, the older cousins spend most of their time playing video games. Their current favorite is Rock Band. When the older ones weren’t looking, my two got in some guitar time! Doesn’t Ricky look so grown up?
It is fun having Baby Cate around (sorry, Cathy, that her closest cousin won’t be a girl to play dolls with). The boys don’t quite know what to do with her, but they do seem to like her. Especially when they can give her a ride!
And here are the two little boys, Danny and Billy. They were having a moment of sharing–they both got to stand on the heater vent at the same time!
Maybe your baby #3 will want to play dolls with Cate anyway. If not, #4 better get here soon and she better be a girl!nn1
