Friday was our last day at Disneyland. I took a lot of pictures.
That thing on the inside of Ricky’s arm is a temporary tattoo. It says “If I am lost, please call . . .” and then I used a temporary tattoo marker to write our cell numbers. Billy had one too on the outside of his arm.
We rode the Monorail into the park for the last time and as we waited for the train, Billy scouted out our plan for the day on his map.
The boys aren’t very interested in princesses or princes or even really castles, but they did think this castle looked cool. I was ready to take a picture of Kevin and the boys when a fellow mom came up and said, “I’m never in pictures with my family. Let me take this picture for you so you can be in it.”
We rode the Winnie the Pooh ride again since the boys loved it so much (It is in the same building where Country Bears used to be and did you know that the moose, buffalo and deer heads that talked during the show are still there? That was fun to see.) When we came out there was Tigger bouncing around the path. Really. He bounced. A lot. He didn’t hold still very long and getting a picture with him was actually incredibly difficult, but we were persistent.
Tigger’s bouncing wasn’t the only thing that made capturing a picture hard — Billy got in on the action too! He’s a bouncy boy by nature, but this was crazy!
We ate lunch by the water at the Hungry Bear Cafe. Actually, Billy, Rusty and I ate lunch and fed the ducks while Kevin took Ricky on Splash Mountain again. Ricky loved looking for Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit and I was hoping they’d bring back a perfect shot of them going over the big drop. No such luck for us! Kevin and Ricky shared the backseat and even positioned Ricky on the right side for the perfect picture and it was a great shot . . . of Ricky’s body. The guy in the seat in front of them had his arm up and it covered Ricky’s face. Perfectly.
After Splash Mountain, Ricky ate his lunch quickly and then he and I darted off to Thunder Mountain again. (Disneyland has these great things called Fast Passes that let you pretty much walk on to certain rides at certain times–they are beautiful things!) Ricky made another wish, something about coming back to Disneyland soon, and then we were on the ride. He grinned, he laughed, and he screamed like a girl! It was terrific!
Next we wandered through Tarzan’s Treehouse. I love his face in this picture.
The boys were starting to tire and so we made our last stop in Disneyland the Tiki Room where bird and flowers sing. We had some pineapple whip (ice cream) while we enjoyed the show. Then we said our good-byes to Disneyland.
We had to make one final stop before leaving the resort completely. We’d missed out on some “friends” at California Adventure and I just had to let my boys see them before we left. Here they are posing in the O of California.
And these are their friends — Mater and Lightning McQueen from the movie “Cars.” Oh my goodness. I wish I’d captured Billy’s face when we turned the corner and he saw those two cars.
He just wanted to talk to them and look at them from front to back and he did not want to stand still for a picture. Both had to get kisses and Ricky wanted to stay and fix Mater’s broken headlight for him. There was a family behind us waiting for their turn and Billy was not interested in accomodating them. It was the perfect way to end our time in the parks.
We finally tore Billy away from Mater and made our last walk back to the hotel to check out. We love our Sit-N-Stand stroller, which was designed for 2, but we made it work pretty good for 3.
Ricky got his wish. As we were walking out the lobby to our van, who was waiting to give him a good-bye hug but Goofy.
It almost made me cry. My boys had such a good time.
One last stop by the giant Mickey.
But Billy was sad to be leaving.
A bit of comfort from Poppy.
We hadn’t gone very far, we were driving up the freeway on-ramp, and I glanced back to see why they were so quiet. They had so much fun and were so worn out!
