Sheer Joy Is . . .

. . . watching objects fly through the air!  Or so Billy thinks.  Toys, food, pacifiers, dirt . . . it doesn’t matter.  If he can make it projectile, he will!  Sunday at church he successfully made the 4 people in the pew behind us all flinch at once as he sent two plastic blocks flying in their direction.  Luckily, the blocks ricocheted off the back of our bench and no one was hit.  The lady in front of us was not so lucky . . . his pacifier thumped her at least twice.  We are trying to regain control, but he doesn’t seem to throw things for the usual toddler reasons.  Billy rarely wants the item back again, he just wants to see it fly.  And you can see the joy on his little face as he takes that partially chewed pea out of his mouth and sends it flying across the kitchen.  He has a pretty mighty throw, too.

. . . getting to spell words on the computer.  Or so Ricky thinks.  Every time I sit down with my lap top, Ricky is right there to climb in my lap and ask “Momma, please I write letters?”  He can find all the letters on the keyboard without much effort now and he loves watching them pop up on the screen!   Ricky is doing really well at picking up the sounds each letter makes and figuring out what words are.  He can spell more than a dozen words without even thinking about it and with only a little thought a dozen more.  I suppose I should start giving him a little more direction in this, but it is very fun to watch him learn on his own.  Yesterday’s word was “rooster,” today he wants me to remind him how to spell “Wilbur” every two minutes.

. . . waking up with a song in your heart and belting it as loud as you possible can!  Or so Ricky does!!  He wakes up happy and singing most mornings at the break of dawn.  Yesterday, I could clearly understand his rendition of the ABC’s and I was in our kitchen!  How Billy doesn’t wake up to his morning serenade, I will never know.

. . . playing hide and seek and having Billy give everyone’s hiding places away!  Billy and Ricky think this is the best!  I’ll count, Ricky hides and Billy crawls right to wherever his brother is hiding.  When Billy gets to him, they both giggle and I have no problems finding either of them!

. . . body slamming!  We have our WWE professional.  Billy chooses to crawl.  He can walk, he can stand without holding on, but he doesn’t find either of those worth his effort most of the time.  HOWEVER, he will walk across a room just to body slam our bean bag chair–and it is even better if our orange cat is napping on it at the time!  At Grandmama’s house, there is a floor cushion that he will walk over to and slam down on as well.  Can’t get him to walk to me, but offer him the chance to smack his face into a defenseless cushion and he is all over that!!

I believe you meant body splashing instead of body slamming. A body splash is when you run and jump onto an opponent, who is usually lying lifeless on his back. A body slam is when you pick your opponent up and slam them onto the floor. A power slam is when you body slam and splash at the same time. Why can’t people remember the correct names of wrestling moves? Well, at least you didn’t call it the WWF.

    Love, Dan

P.S. That’s all the people need to know!

Oh, I feel like such an ignoramus! Thank you for the correction. And I was very proud of myself for not instinctively typing “WWF.”

I don’t know who I feel more sorry for-Little Danny for having such a nerd for a Daddy, Billy for the impending brain damage that always accompanies a career in professional wrestling, or Cindy for her tragic loss of ranking to an overstuffed cushion in her youngest’s heart.

And when then heck did it become the WWE? That is lame! And Junk Yard Dog Man would agree with me! SO THERE and you can kiss my green tongue and hairy back!

🙂 Suzy aka George the Animal Still callin’ it WWF!
