The t.v. is tired.

Since the boys understand the concept of being tired and needing a rest, I’ve always just told them that the t.v. was tired when it was time to turn it off.  Generally, they don’t complain.  Today Ricky actually believed me.

Our t.v. has one of those timers on it where you can program it to play for 30 minutes and then automatically turn off.  When this is set, the word “sleep” will appear on the screen shortly before it goes off.  Billy likes to play with the remote.  Can you see where this is going?

I was working in another room and had told the boys that the t.v. needed to be turned off when their show was over.  Ricky came racing in a bit earlier than I expected and told me, with wide eyes, that the t.v. was tired!  “It said, sleep, and then turned off,” he said with amazement.   I really wanted to say “I told you so” and laugh but instead I told him that he could probably wake it up and watch the last 5 minutes of his show and then let the t.v. take its nap.  He was just amazed that the t.v. really did get tired!
