Last week Ricky really wanted to be in charge of our family night. I had planned to teach the boys about Easter, but didn’t want to discourage him. So Ricky got to work.
He had a song planned. He wrote a play with parts (for him, me, and Kevin). He created a game to play. He even made decorations. Ricky was thrilled. His theme for the night … witches. Okay, son!
One of his wall decorations had to hang there for several days before I translated it. It said “casl soet casl.” No where in our home is there a “Home Sweet Home” sign, but he had made a Castle Sweet Castle one for our evening.
He had originally planned on Billy being in the play but when Ricky handed him his part, Billy said, “I can’t read!” so Ricky made adjustments!
His game was similar to a cake walk … he’d colored pictures of witch things: cat, hat, broom, etc. He and his brothers walked around the circle while I sang a song. When I stopped, I was to pick one of the pictures and whoever was standing on it was the winner. Amazingly, they all had a turn to win!
It was a sweet little family night and Ricky was so proud of himself!
