Tommy

Did you hear?  We have four little boys!  Tommy joined us on Saturday and so far we think we’ll keep him!

Kevin and I went back and forth on the name for this #4 and in the end, I just let Kevin name him.  We’d thrown around name after name.  Tommy’s name comes from some of our ancestors:  I have two great-something grandfathers named Thomas (one was a blind harpist pioneer and the other is my African lineage) and Kevin has a great-something grandfather, Captain James Pendleton, that he’s brought up more than once.

Due to a non-listening anesthesiologist, Tommy’s entrance into the world was a bit bumpy for me.   Luckily, he came quickly.  He took a big gulp of amniotic fluid as he entered the world, so his first hour or so was a spitty one!

Tommy has long little fingers and really long toes!  His hair is darker than any of our other boys had and while it isn’t very thick, what he has is about an inch long.  He was born needing a mani and a pedi!

He was born a pretty typical weight for our boys.  At 7 lbs 9 oz, he was right in the middle (our biggest was Billy at 7 lbs 12 oz and Rusty was our smallest at 7 lbs 1 oz).  He is a little shorter, only 19 1/2 inches, so he looks a bit meatier and his thighs are already getting rolls!

The boys are all smothering him with love daily!  Most surprising is that they understand the need to whisper when he is asleep!  It has been wonderful!

When Kevin and I left to go to the hospital, Billy asked if I was going there to get his baby brother.  Both boys were very excited when their babysitter announced that the baby was born and that his name was Tommy.  Ricky told her that he was going to call the baby “Incredible Boy” but I have yet to actually hear him call Tommy that!
