Chuck E of the Cheeses

Ricky’s birthday week started with a much begged for trip to Chuck E Cheese.  It wasn’t too long ago that they opened one near us and the commercials have been taunting Ricky ever since.  I kept putting him off, until it came time to choose a place to meet Kevin’s sisters and parents for dinner last Saturday.

As soon as we walked in the door, Billy saw this train …

His three year old heart was not content until he got up there.  We tried and tried to get a picture of him in the engine, but each time, Ricky the Distracter would get Billy turned around or lure him out of the engine.  Another non-photographed moment was when Billy was “stuck” up there.  Not even sure how one would get stuck, but that was the story, so Kevin wiggled his body into the up-going tunnel to see what the problem was.  I’m pretty sure it was right after Kevin got himself into that tunnel, that Billy came giggling down the slide.

Thanks to Grandpa Brent’s generosity, the boys rode rides …

played on simulators …

(I love the concern on Billy’s face in these)

and played games until they could play no more.   They even came home with tokens for our next visit!

Rusty was not to be left out on the action.  He rode rides …

And he kicked some serious booty on this popcorn game …

The object is to move the bucket around and catch as much “popcorn” as you can – easy enough for a one year old to get the high score against his parents and brothers not only once, but 3 times!

Rusty also enjoyed Whack the Mole.  I helped him and he just giggled every time we hit one.  He did a great job with Kevin’s family even though he hadn’t seen them since last summer.  Aunt Sheri was super at taking him around to all the different games … without any bribery at all!

Ricky really enjoyed playing by the blue screen, but I think Billy was a bit concerned about the whole thing …

He held on to Ricky a lot.  I don’t think he was comfortable seeing himself on the tv with the big animals  …

While I did get in on a few games, mostly Tommy and I enjoyed some good conversation.

And no visit to the Palace of Cheeses would be complete without seeing the old King himself.

It was an excellent beginning to Ricky’s birthday week!
