Boating

My youth group had a boating activity this week.  I knew I had a lot planned and wouldn’t see a lot of Kevin this week, so I invited him and the boys along.

We went to Willard Bay, which isn’t the cleanest water, but the boys didn’t care.  As soon as they were strapped into their borrowed life jackets, all three of the older ones were in the water.  Ricky is the head floating behind Kevin.  He had no fear and liked going out pretty deep – hence the borrowing of the life jackets.

Ricky tried to get some flirting action with these girls … good thing they were with our group!

Rusty surprised me the most with how relaxed he was in the water.  With that life jacket on, he’d kick his feet up and just float.  Billy was okay.  I think he still preferred hanging out in the sand on shore. (that’s Rusty floating behind the tube with Kev)

Look at that handsome devil!

Tommy and I hung on shore talking with people.

That is until it was our turn to ride a boat.  We opted to ride the pontoon-style boat since it was a bit slower and smoother.  On went Tommy’s life jacket …

And away we went.

Once we got to the middle of the lake, the boat was stopped so the youth could jump off and swim.  Ricky asked if they could too.  Sure.  So Kevin jumped in …

Then Ricky …

Surprisingly, Billy jumped in too (remember his theory on jumping off boats?)  Even more surprising was that Rusty was not content just watching from the boat with me.  He wanted into the murky water, so he was lowered in.  Ricky was completely at home and floated off enjoying his freedom.  Kevin kept Billy and Rusty close.  Well, he didn’t have to try too hard with Billy … he attached himself to Kevin and wasn’t letting go.

Someday, when they are a bit bigger, we’ll let them try out the Water Weenie like the youth.  I love the Water Weenie.  After dinner, Kevin took the boys home and I helped my self to a few rides.  These are some of my church kids having fun.

The boys loved it.   They take after their father and that means more water time.   Darn it!
