Mr. Tooth Fairy

On October 9 we became part of the Tooth Fairy’s route.  Ricky finally lost the tooth that had been hanging on by a thread for weeks.

Ricky wouldn’t touch that tooth.  Most kids I know wiggle and play with their loose tooth all the time, but not my son.  He left it alone.  It was sitting at such a crooked angle!  We were going to have our family pictures taken later that day and I mentioned to Kevin that Ricky would probably look better without that tooth (it was seriously at a freaky angle).

So, being the male authority figure, Kevin trapped Ricky between his legs and told him it was time to try and pull the tooth.  Ricky squirmed and fought and Kevin fought back.  Finally when Kevin was ready to just let the child go, poof, the tooth came out by accident.

The one right next to it came out just a couple of days later.  Ricky was better about wiggling it on his own this time.   Ricky was adamant that he write the Tooth Fairy a note before putting the second tooth under his pillow.  So we stuck the tooth in the freezer (everybody KNOWS the Tooth Fairy won’t come looking for a tooth in the freezer.  right?).  Anyway…

Ricky wrote the note a couple of days after his tooth fell out.  It said something along the lines of, “Please leave me money and don’t take my tooth.”  Luckily for Ricky, as Kevin was tucking him into bed, he decided not to be a Greedy Gus and threw the note away.  I’m pretty sure there would have been no money and no tooth if he’d left that note where it was!

I really think reading this while eating my lunch was a bad idea. No offense to Ricky. I should have known by reading the title. Hooray for Ricky, though!
