Older Women

There is some saying about boys wanting to marry women like their mothers, but Ricky has perhaps taken this to the extreme.

We were at a neighborhood Christmas party last night and I was visiting with my friend who drives Ricky home from school.  She told me about a transaction between Ricky and her daughter, Kenley, that afternoon.

Ricky said, “Hey, can you come over for a play date?”

Kenley replied, “Um, I don’t know.  I’ll have to ask.”

To which Ricky explained, “Oh.  Not you.  I was talking to your mom!”

We all left the party shortly after laughing about that incident.  I got stopped a couple of times on my way out, so Kevin and the boys got out to the car first.  I was stopped one last time at the door by another friend of mine.  She does singing time for Ricky at church and has a cute little relationship with my boys.  Jen told me that as Ricky passed by on his way to the car, he stopped to ask her if she would come over for a play date on Saturday.  Jen’s husband seemed amused by this invitation!

I don’t expect him to date for many years to come, but do I need to start emphasizing an age limit to his play date partners?
