Thanksgiving

We got the chance to spend the week of Thanksgiving in California with Kevin’s folks and his sisters.  It was a great trip.

But, of course, since I’m writing about it nearly 4 weeks after the fact, I don’t remember a lot of details.

We got there on a Tuesday in time for one of the boys’ favorite meals … spaghetti!

We spent our time just hanging out with the family at the house.  It was actually quite peaceful and relaxing.

We had a big turkey dinner, played some games, explored Aunt Wendi’s new home, watched a little tv.  Aunt Sheri even stole borrowed some cars, trains, and legos for the boys to enjoy while we were there.

Ricky made a big roller coaster out of the legos and these were all the cars parked in the parking lot.

The boys got a lot of practice at picking up their toys – every time we turned around, they’d found something else to, um, explore.

Billy might have gotten a little confused … maybe it was that thicker air being at a lower elevation and all.  Someone called him Billy and he replied,

I’m NOT Billy.  I’m Howard.

When asked about that, he went on,

Howard is my first name.  Billy is my next name.  Billiam Howard is my other name.

The boys got to play with Grandpa Brent’s tricycle.  It is the same one he used to ride when he was a little boy.  Rusty was in awe, but his feet didn’t quite reach the pedals.

Billy also had another bit of confusion.  His preschool teacher’s name is Ms. Cherie.  We were now visiting his Aunt Sheri.  He informed Sheri at one point,

The REAL Sheri is Ms. Cherie.  You are the fake Sheri.

The boys did a good job behaving themselves all week, but boys will be boys.  The guest room is an enclosed back porch so the door to the room is a glass sliding door.  The boys were racing around doing only they know what and Ricky rounded the corner and smacked right into the door.  He bounced back a bit and seemed to shake it off pretty well.  It was when he almost did the exact same thing just a few minutes later that the turkey pictures the boys had colored were hung up on the door … at Ricky’s eye level.

It really was a fun vacation.  The boys want to do it again!
