When your bed doesn’t have any sheets on it and you sleep in it anyway … that is what we call sleeping cowboy style. Just toss a blanket over yourself and call it good.
We don’t do this terribly often, but occasionally, I just don’t get the beds remade. This happened to Ricky and Billy’s beds on Saturday. I tried to make it seem like a good thing. As they got their pajamas on, I talked about how they got to sleep cowboy style and explained how cowboys would sleep on the ground at their campsite.
Billy was quite tired, having skipped his nap to play in the snow that afternoon. So when Kevin went to tuck him in, Billy’s sad face was near tears as he said,
“Poppy, I don’t wanna sleep like a cowboy!”
He did anyway. And he did Sunday night too.
