Dryer Vent Bird's Nest

About a month ago, our neighbor and Kevin watched a bird fly out of our dryer vent.  That isn’t a good thing.  Kevin made certain the bird was out and then sealed it off with a little screen.

Since then, my dryer has been taking longer and longer to dry.  Kevin finally had a chance to evaluate the problem.

There was no more mother bird in our dryer vent, but there was a nest.  A nest at least a foot long.  A nest a full arm’s length inside the dryer vent.  A nest with two little eggs inside.

The boys thought the light blue eggs were pretty cool.

Ricky wanted to keep them.  He wanted to make them nice and warm and help the babies hatch.  It was a little sad telling him that there would be no baby birds from these eggs.  He got over it.

Rusty was tickled that he got a turn to hold the eggs too.  He held them a little TOO tightly …

My dryer is working much better now.
