Stairs

Tommy.  Tommy likes stairs.  Tommy likes to make me nervous on the stairs.

By our front door, we have two steps and I’ve let him play on those as a way to learn and master the art of stairs.  He absolutely loves to stand on the middle step and chatter or play with toys.  I can’t watch it.  He has fallen backwards more than once.  Tommy cries and then is right back to standing on that step.  I shudder.

We use a baby gate of sorts to keep him contained.  It is a bi-fold type thing and is easy enough to move that Rusty can get around yet difficult enough to move to keep Tommy where I want him.  Yeah, not any more.

Tommy wants stairs.  He has been eye-balling those stairs through the gate for months and he’s finally decided that that is where he is going.  He flings the gate out of the way and bolts.

He just goes up and down.  He’ll sit.  He’s learned to go up them standing and holding onto the railing.  He frightens me by standing up.  Tommy does this for what seems like hours.  Okay, maybe not hours but he did play that way for a solid 20 minutes the other day.

(Oh and my stairs really aren’t as dirty as they look in these pictures – that’s gotta be the lighting because that would just be gross)
