Summer Reading

My boys are readers.  I love it.

I’ve been reading chapter books to the older boys for about a year now.  Sometimes I’ll read during the day if we are really into a book, but usually our reading is at bedtime.

We are currently loving the Liza, Bill, and Jed Mysteries by Peggy Parish.  There are six in the series and we are on book 4.  They are so into the books that Ricky will bring me the book first thing in the morning and ask me to read to them.  He can read them on his own, but he prefers listening to me.

Ricky and Billy even play like they are these three kids solving mysteries … Rusty gets to be Liza.  They set up mysteries and run around the house looking for clues.  Did I mention how much I love that my boys love reading?

I’ve got lots of books I’m excited to introduce to the boys.  They’ve heard a little bit of Encyclopedia Brown and I’m sure they will love the Great Brain books.  Ricky has requested we read Gregor the Overlander and Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  So many great books out there and I’m very thankful I get to share them with my boys!
