Ricky's 7th Birthday

Ricky turned seven in July.  How?

We did a little celebrating on our Washington trip and then a bit more celebrating with our family here at home.  Lucky boy!

We invited the family over for a backyard picnic.  Tommy was all about the food.

The Angry Bird cake picks I’d used in Washington were recycled and color coordinated nicely with the sugar cookie bar cake from Aunt Cathy.

Sometimes it is hard to decide on that birthday wish …

And whether you want him to or not, a four-year-old is always willing to help blow out those candles …

There were a few gifts …  school clothes from Grandmama …

… a new DS game from Aunt Suzy and Uncle John …

… a game from Aunt Cathy and Uncle Dan – with the cutest pompom Angry Bird attached …

… the promise of an adventure from Uncle Tony and Aunt Diane …

Tommy was ready for his cake.

Rusty thought it was pretty good, too.

Then Rusty found something interesting to play with … the lighter.

It is a good thing ice cream isn’t flammable and that he didn’t figure out how to start it … and that I came along to take it away (some people’s fathers!).

Remember Tommy and his cake?

He didn’t get messy with the cake.  He actually ate that about a cleanly as a one-year-old can.

Now the ice cream on the other hand …

Kevin cleaned up the problem with the garden hose.  I can’t say that Tommy really liked it.

The cousins had a good time playing together.  I’m glad they get along so well.

Rusty and Cate sang a few ditties …

Cate may have quite a career ahead of her.

How did it happen?  How did my first baby turn out to be 7?
