Tommy had his 18 month well check with the pediatrician this week. He wasn’t really pleased to be there. He cried when he the nurse weighed and measured him. He howled during the entire exam with the doctor. Tommy just didn’t think those people should be touching him.
It was a good exam though. For the first time in a year, there was no concern about him being too skinny! We weren’t told to fatten him up and feed him oodles of calories. Whew. He weighed in at 24 pounds (25 percentile) and was just shy of 32 inches tall (35 percentile).
Tommy did decide the doctor wasn’t so bad by the end. Just before the doctor left the exam room, Tommy gave him five. It made the doctor happy.
I don’t think the doctor’s happiness lasted though … Tommy barely made a fuss while the nurse gave him his vaccinations and I heard that same nurse taunting the doctor about being more liked as we were leaving.
It is always good to brighten someone’s day.
