Santa Run and Light Parade

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Ogden City does a Light Parade.  Santa brings up the rear and turns on the lights in the Christmas Village.

This year, Kevin and I entered the 5k that happens along the parade route just before the parade.  One of the fun parts of the race is that you have to run it in a Santa costume.

Another fun part is that for each adult who enters the race, a child runs free.  Ricky and Billy were both planning on it, but that afternoon they went to a trampoline place with one of Ricky’s friends and they were totally pooped.  Billy tried though …

It wasn’t too long after the race finished that the parade started.  It was cold.  We were all bundled in blankets and Kevin, Grandmama, and I were using boys as heaters.

Billy didn’t want to sit on a lap.  He was content laying on the curb.  He’s sometimes weird.

The boys were antsy waiting for the parade to start, but once it did, they all settled down.  Tommy totally relaxed on my lap and seemed to just enjoy all the lights, music, horses, and vehicles in the parade.

For Billy and Ricky, the greatest part of the parade … the part that was talked about for several days afterward … was the float from Layton City.  Not the float itself, but the dudes walking behind it …

I believe Billy’s exact words were, “I can’t believe I saw a real Storm Trooper and a real light saber!”  The cold was worth it just to see his happy face!

And then Santa came.  He got a few waves.  That’s all.

And there you go.
