A Talk with Ricky’s Primary Teachers

Last night, I had the chance to visit with the two ladies who teach Ricky’s Primary (church) class.  They both laugh every time they even mention Ricky.  Apparently, he’s a bit of a character and they adore him!

One of his teachers couldn’t come to his baptism last week because of work.  I didn’t realize that Ricky even noticed that Jodi wasn’t there, but when he walked into his class on Sunday, he put his hand on his hip and gave Jodi the look and said, “WHERE were you?”  As she tried not to laugh, she explained that work got in the way and Ricky gave a huh-sigh and said, “Well, I guess that’s okay then.”

They always start class by letting the kids tell a little about their week and a couple of weeks ago Ricky told them about his restaurant.  He’d converted his bedroom into a restaurant and kept trying to get us eat there throughout the week.  Billy worked with him.  The story he told his Primary teachers was “Billy wasn’t coming to work, so I had to fire him.”

The following week Jodi and Heidi asked Ricky about his restaurant business.  With a shrug of his shoulders he told them, “We had to close up shop.”

These nice ladies did mention that we must have the nicest family because Ricky is the only child in class who doesn’t talk about fighting with his siblings.  I just nodded my head and smiled knowingly …

It is obvious that these ladies love my little boy and he certainly enjoys spending time with them each Sunday!
