Crazy Hair Day

For Red Ribbon (Drug-Free Awareness) Week at school, one day the kids got to wear their hair any crazy way they wanted.  Ricky had just had a hair cut, so there weren’t a whole lot of options for him.  I suggested a bunch of little pony tails.  He did NOT approve of wearing his hair in pony tails – that was for girls!  But by telling him I was actually making HORNS all over his head, I got away with it.

I tried to make it better by giving Billy a “horn,” too.  Yeah, that didn’t work.

Billy just sat on his bed and cried and cried about how he didn’t WANT a pony tail and it WASN’T a horn!  Billy isn’t my crier, so that just shows how upset he was by that one little pig tail!

Once I got Ricky finished, I asked if he liked it and he made the face in the picture.  I offered to take them back out because I didn’t want him to be heartbroken like Billy.  I guess he had a change of heart because Ricky quickly dodged my hands and said, “No!  I’ll keep ’em!”

He kept all but one.  At an assembly at school that morning, one of the front elastics suddenly popped off!   Ricky said he and his friend thought that was pretty funny!
