Good-bye, Daisy

January was not good for our Daisy girl.  It was just too cold and her body just wore out.  Maybe her heart just broke too much with missing Trouble.

The vet said her one hip was completely shot and was grinding and the other had serious loss in its range of motion.  Her head was hanging low and when he moved it, she whimpered.  Most likely arthritis in her neck.  We could start a pain regimen and do a blood test … or we could let her go.

We decided there was no point in her seeing another spring if she couldn’t play fetch.

Ten and a half years.

I knew we wouldn’t keep her long without Trouble, but I had hoped.

There is comfort in picturing the two pups up playing fetch with my dad.  Lots of comfort.

I don’t know how to not have a dog.

I’m sure going to miss her.
