Tee Ball

We make New Year’s Resolutions at our house.  Not impossible stuff, just a goal to do something sometime during the new year.  For instance, I wanted to read 12 books (finished that by the end of April) and Kevin wanted to move the deep freezer into the garage (buying a new house kind of sped that one up).

The boys make resolutions as well.  This year Rusty decided that he wanted to play baseball, so I signed him up for tee ball.  Billy had never done baseball, either, and they could be on the same team, so Billy got signed up as well.

The boys absolutely loved it.  Billy really got into it – much more than he ever did soccer (whoo hoo!).  And Rusty?  Well, there is seriously nothing cuter than a 4 year old Rusty playing tee ball.  And I’m not even being biased – several moms and dads watching would comment on his absolute adorability!

As far as being baseball parents … so much more enjoyable when you aren’t coaching!  When Ricky did tee ball, Kevin was coach and Tommy was born right after the season started.  It felt like way more work than fun.  This season was fun!  I didn’t dread the games … although the weather made it adventurous.  We had freezing cold games and games so hot, we thought they’d cut it short because of the heat!

Tommy loved watching his brothers play.  Ricky was indifferent.  He’d just bring a book along to entertain himself.

The boys improved greatly as the season went on.  They both could hit off the pitcher some of the time and they were good about not swarming the ball and just playing their position.  Okay, Billy was good at that.  Rusty wasn’t so good at playing the field.  He was often in the short stop position and the coaches spent a lot of time reminding him to watch out for the ball so he wouldn’t get hit in the head!  But he had fun … and they LOVED the after game snacks!  There was one game where there were no snacks.  The boys were so sad – end of the world sad.

I have several more cute shots of the boys – the posed kind and the full team picture, but they are all on a CD.  Where that CD is, I don’t know.  When I someday finish unpacking, I’ll find it and then I’ll post those last few pictures.

It was a good season.  We may just have to do baseball again … maybe!
